Hi welcome to another edition of MIBW. Welcome to
the 300 New Subscribers since last weeks' issue. I hope that
everyone has had a good week. There is a lot to cover in today's'
issue so I won't waste any time. I have officially finished up
enough of my second site to start the pre-launch.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY HI! IS THAT SO WRONG?

Doesn't it seem lately that you can't even contact someone online
without them screaming SPAM. One of the best forms of getting
your business known is through word of mouth, so many of us
contact well known marketers in hopes that they will like what
they are trying to sell and hopefully purchase your product.
Many of us just want to say hello and to thank them for their
helpful services. But it is the innocent ones who suffers. You
see, many people do not know how to approach other businesses,
and because of that they end up being thought of as very
amateurish and un-professional, therefore branded as some sort of
a future Spammer. After that you're finished, your one shot is
gone and you have to move on.
What am I talking about?
Remember career day in school? They showed you the essentials
needed to conquer a job interview. You were basically selling
yourself to the employer based on your skills, personality and
especially your charisma.
We all remember " Give a firm handshake, and maintain good eye-
contact" That always helped.
But online there is no eye contact or a firm handshake. It is all
based on your words and your words only. So you have to make the
best impression possible.
Being a webmaster and a publisher I have seen my share of bad
emails. Some are nothing but sales letters which I personally
don't like because it shows me that you just copied my name into
an email and hit send.
It is getting so that you can't even contact a publisher for some
help and advice without being persecuted for your actions. I
understand both sides since I am leery sometimes when someone
contact me for help. You wonder what is the alternative motive?
Sometimes they don't need help at all just want to send you some
promotion with an affiliate link at the end, so why bother?
For example, say that you want to trade links with another
webmaster. What you Don't want to do is this:
"Hey, I saw your site and it looks good. Let's trade links."
John Doe
123456abcd(at)you-have-no-idea-who-I-am.com
Oh sure, I send you my link and next thing you know I am linked
to some porn site or some pyramid scheme site. So much for being
family friendly.
What you should do is this:
"Hello Donesia,
I came upon your site and I like the contents, particularly your
article on (blah blah blah) I recently subscribed to your
newsletter and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I have
a quick question for you. I am the webmaster of
Thisismydomainforcredibility.com, and I wanted to ask you a
question about starting my own newsletter, blah blah blah"
Get the idea. You don't have to write a novel but get to the
point and provide some background of yourself, because I can
guarantee you, if and only if the webmaster does respond to the
first letter, the first they will say is:
"Who are you, what is your url and why would your link benefit
me?"
Always Remember some Key Factors:
Do Include the marketers first name. If you do not know the first
name at least address the person properly by their last name or
"To the webmaster of domain.com"
Look at the person's site first. It doesn't matter what reason
you are contacting them, have some idea of who you are
contacting.
If you don't know how to sound sincere, then learn how. I know
it's time consuming getting people to
link with you, do a joint venture with them, or ask for help.
Sound like you actually like what you are doing. Remember
whatever reasons you are contacting them, you may be doing them
favor but that doesn't mean you have to sound pompous.
Don't use any slang terms or email emoticons when you are trying
to conduct a business email correspondence. Yes they are cute to
use but not for initial contact
Please give some info on who you are and what is your background,
such as your website and/or ezine name. You never know they may
have already heard of you and are probably glad to hear from you.
Don't assume that if you don't hear from them within a day then
that means they weren't interested. Marketers are very busy and
can't accomplish everything at one time.
Please Please Please use your spell check. All the email software
has it including the web based email. If it's not your friend
then who else will put up with spelling errors.
How I wish for the days when you were online just to surf and
shop and chat with a friend.
Remember first impressions are still important. Learn to get your
point across the right way even if you are complaining about a
product or service
Publishers and Webmasters,
Let's cut them some slack sometimes, they are not all Spammers.
They may not know who to contact so you are their first taste of
internet marketing. Don't give them the cold shoulder. Help them
if they need help, if not direct them to a website that can. They
may not know the tricks of the trade, they just wanted to say Hi!
Now is that so Wrong!!

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CONTACT A MARKETER FOR INFORMATION?
Let's face it. We have all forgotten half of the things we
learned in high school. It's time to remember all those grammar
and language arts lessons. We are adults here and should present
ourselves as such.
Here are two examples of how to send a persuasive email to get
your point across. One is a general letter and another one is in
regards to asking for a reciprocal link from a webmaster.
How to Exchange Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal links is very basic. It is an agreement between two,
or more websites to show each others' links. If done correctly,
it can help promote your site and improve your search engine

How do I approach the webmaster about exchanging link?
" Hey I like your site. Gimme your link" WILL NOT WORK!
That will get your email deleted quicker than junk mail!
Make sure that the site you wish to approach is relevant to your
site. No cigarette ads to baby websites! Include:
Webmasters' first name or just by last name
Site name
URL where there link is located on your site
What you like about their site
Why they should exchange links with you
I put together a form that visitors can add their links and I
approve their links before I add them, so you might want to
consider that option as well as opposed to having anyone
automatically adding their links because you never know where
that links to. So start linking and get your popularity up.

Search Engines- The World’s Yellow Pages
Whatever your product is or your service offers, you
need to show it to the world in order to sell it.
We all need advertising and the more, the better.
But how to reach all those potential customers?
Conservative estimates indicate there are at least 70
Million(!!) Internet users online today and over
100.000 new websites being created each month.
Over 90% of all Internet users will use a Search
Engine to find the product or service they are looking
for. Once your website can be found in Search Engines, your
exposure is second to none.
And do you need to worry about getting into the top 10
with every Search Engine? Not really; meta tag optimization is
not costly and can greatly improve your ranking.
As does linking and the use of well constructed
doorway pages.
Doorway pages are pages that have been developed to
rank highly for a specific keyword or phrase.
But the most important thing of all is: get listed!
Due to the amount of submissions that Search Engines
receive, it takes from 2 days to 3 months for your
site to show up, depending on the Engine. Paid Listings are an
option for site owners who want to build visibility quickly. This
form of search engine advertising means that you can be
guaranteed to appear in the top results for the terms you are
interested in, usually within days.
So you better start submitting today, it will be worth
it; by hand or done by a professional service for a small
fee; make sure YOUR web site is in the World’s Yellow

Keep Copies Of Everything
As a Webmaster and Ezine Publisher, you should always keep copies
of everything. Every:
subscription request
unsubscribe request
free ad
customer feedback
ads that you have used
copies of old issues
receipts of sales
any credit card disputes
emails from other webmasters
If you are involved in any ad coop programs so need to keep
copies of the paid advertisements to respond to.
You never know when someone will complain that they never
subscribed, or that their credit card was charged incorrectly.
Trust me it may seem like a big hassle right now but keep these
copies, and not just in your email program. Keep copies on your
hard drive and ALWAYS, ALWAYS back up everything. Don't think
your computer can not crash. You want to see something
depressing, try looking at that blue screen after you forgot to
save your work!!
Keep records in Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, or try Task
Plus, which will help keep you organized with a calendar a to do

TIME TO LAUGH...
An older couple had a grown son who was still living with
them. They were a little worried, as the son was
still unable to decide about his future career. So they
decided to do a small test. They took a $10 bill, a
Bible, and a bottle of whiskey, and put them on the front
hall table. Then they hid, pretending they were not at home.
The father explained his plan to the mother: "If our son takes
the money, he will be a businessman, if he takes the Bible,
he will be a priest -- but if he takes the bottle of whiskey,
I'm afraid our son will be a drunkard."
So the parents hid in the nearby closet and waited nervously.
When the son arrived, he saw a note they had left telling
him they wouldn't be home for awhile. Then, he took the $10,
looked at the bill against the light, and slid it in his pocket.
After that, he took the Bible, flicked through it, and took it.
Finally, he grabbed the bottle, opened it, and took an
appreciative
whiff to be assured of the quality ... then he left for his
room, carrying all the three items.
The father slapped his forehead, and said:
"It's even worse than I could ever have imagined ...
Our son is going to be a politician!"
