Hi , & welcome to another edition of MIBW. I hope that
you've had a good week. Today's' issue has an exclusive interview
with Jan Tallent Dandridge. This should give you an idea of how
and what it takes for some to succeed online. Enjoy.

3. QUICK THOUGHTS FROM THE EDITOR
Maybe it's just me but lately since the new year started the ads
seem a bit desperate. The old get rich quick in 3 days or less
seem to be out in full swing. I think people are preying on
emotions, instead of any real common sense marketing methods. I
know the economy in the U.S. is not what it should be but don't
fall for any hype. This is the year to truly explore your
business options and to make it happen. If you are worried that
you will never have enough money or enough resources to start off
online, next week I will show you how you can start off online on
a poor mans' budget. Sometimes when you start off cash strapped
you can appreciate what you have accomplished online than those
who gave someone thousands of dollars to start their online
business. In the meantime enjoy the interview.

INTERVIEW INTRODUCTION
When I decided to interview publishers and webmasters online, I
didn't want to add the usual questions. A lot of times these
interviews seem scripted and they give you "form letter"
responses without ever really giving you any information. So that
is why I included specifics such as what programs are used on a
daily basis to help them succeed. Too many times publishers
promote so many of the same product type and tell you they use
everyone of them! This interview and all that follow will tell
you what they use not because of some affiliate program.
If you are not familiar with Jan Tallent-Dandridge, let me tell
you that she is genuinely one of the nicest people that I have
met online. She is very helpful with any questions you may have,
which is why I chose her to be my first interview.
This and all future interviews will present to you different
webmasters with different purposes in life. The interviews are
not sales letters on how they made $10,000 in 72 hours...real
honest answers to help you achieve your goals online.
Any business person who provides good customer service is worth
their weight in gold and you will always trust them and in turn
become a loyal customer. That's the name of the game..

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE?
I was laid off as a telemarketer where I only had to go 3 miles
to work each day and could pick my own hours so that I did not
have to use daycare except for a couple of hours a day.
I also had a brand new "gonna-be" hubby, I got laid off in
November of 1998 and he had moved 325 miles, from Memphis, TN to
Steelville, MO to be with my 3 kids and I. He and the kids
insisted that if there was any way I could work from home and not
use daycare and travel that I please find it, so I did!
WHAT PROBLEMS DID YOU FACE EARLY ON?
I was, #1: such a sucker for the scams and bull on the net that I
spent more than I made for the first couple of months falling for
this and that and #2: so EAGER that I joined every free affiliate
program I could find and worked 14 to 18 hours PER DAY, EVERY
day, (except for my 24 hour honeymoon!), Christmas, New Year's
etc. just sure if I kept on I would find the "magic" program,
product or service that would "make me a millionaire" like the
hype promised.
HOW DID YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR GROWTH?
Once I slowed down, the things I really cared about and enjoyed
being involved with seemed to take on a life of their own and I
dumped what did not really thrill me personally. As for *growth*,
that has been about ten pounds a year sitting in this office,
LOL!
HOW HAS WORKING ON THE INTERNET AFFECTED YOUR FAMILY LIFE OR
OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT?
I must admit to terribly neglecting my then new husband and kids
the first year but I have to brag on all of them, they wanted me
home so badly that they put up with my always working and too
often "too busy" because they believed in me when I promised once
I made *IT*, things would ease up and they hung in there and
things did! I will NEVER work for someone else again unless I get
bored or lonely (whatever that means!) and just WANT TO!
ARE THERE ANY SCAMS OR SCHEMES THAT YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED THAT
YOU FEEL PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID?
YES! Those "job lists" where you pay a so-called job-hunter or
company to find you a job! I fell for not one, but THREE of
those, expecting each one after the first to be *for real*. Also
paying someone to LET YOU WORK for them! RUN!
No legitimate employer is going to charge YOU to work for them!
Buying supplies, web service, etc. is one thing but do not pay to
work for someone!
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO FAR?
Very! I have a loyal following and have been very lucky to have
met some of the most wonderful people in the entire world by
being on the net, like YOU! And I have been careful to keep my
name honest and credible though I would have made much more money
more quickly by taking some shortcuts I have learned and avoid.
HONESTLY, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR YOU TO SEE A PROFIT?
At 3 months I broke even and by 6 months was making a decent
profit. By my first year anniversary I was making a steady,
though small income and NOW, 3 years later I am making as much as
I would with a *real* job and the expenses are almost
non-existent as I make one investment pay for the next one.
WHAT AFFILIATE PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN MOST EFFECTIVE FOR YOU?

I honestly made $100 per month or more plus 10% of my downliners'
sales which was up to another $100 per month my first year with
this program and it has been my favorite for what will be three
years in June!

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GROW YOUR SUBSCRIBER LIST (I.E.
PROGRAMS, SERVICES, ETC.)
In the beginning, to get to the almighty first thousand subs, I
joined every "run an ad and get a subscriber" campaign I could
find. I also did up to TWENTY (eek!) ad swaps with other ezine
editors! Way back before I hit the 1,000 I also let subs run an
ad PER ISSUE until I got so backed up I had 30 free ads per issue
and had to do Saturdays to catch up, 15 extra issues!
WHAT HAS BEEN SOME OF THE BEST WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR EZINE?
Now, I believe, it is word of mouth from happy subbies. They
tell Mom and cousin Lucy and their neighbor and two people in
their downline or whatever and this really does spread the
exposure. Plus, once I did my first eBook, I had over 2,000
downloads that I tracked before I lost my tracker software in a
pc crash and almost everyone who was NOT a sub, subscribed after
getting my eBook!

Be prepared to work for the hardest boss you have ever had- YOU!
Believe in yourself like no one ever has, realize that there are
scams and cheaters on the net just like in the real world but
most people are honest, hardworking and caring souls. Don't give
up, it takes from 5 to 10 years to get a new business going in
the *brick and mortar* world so expect it to take from one to
three years on the net to really "MAKE" it.
WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE NOW WHAT WOULD YOU DO
DIFFERENTLY?
Honestly, nothing except spend more time with my family and less
working! I treasure every scam and cheater I have run across
because those are what made ME so determined that my name would
always be sterling and respected.

9. TIME TO LAUGH...
There were 11 people hanging onto a rope dangling
from a helicopter.
Ten were men and one was a woman. They all decided
that one person should get off because if someone
didn't, the rope would break and everyone would die.
No one could decide who would go, so finally the
woman gave a really touching speech, saying she
would give up her life to save the others, because
women were used to sacrifice for their husbands
and children, giving to men, and not receiving
anything in return.
When she finished speaking all the men applauded.
