Solutions For The Savvy Advertiser: Ad Coops
By Donesia Muhammad Copyright (c) 2002 KDM Publishing
_________________________________________________________________
When you start to research the many ways that you can promote
your products and services, there are various ways to do this.
You eventually come upon what seems to be a new concept but it
actually isn't.
Advertising Coops
Advertising Coops have been around for a few years now.
Advertisers have always known that there were ways to advertise
to multiple ezines for one low price.
The concept is relatively simple. If you are looking to advertise
in multiple ezines, the cost to purchase ads in each ezine
individually you can easily run up hundreds of dollars pretty
quickly. Not good for the small business owner.
Instead of spending hundreds trying to advertise in many
different ezines, you can send your ad through an ad coop for one
low price and your ad can be seen in all the ezines associated
with that coop.
In exchange for this help, most ad coops require that you
subscribe to the participating ezines.
Some ad coops will also allow you to submit a free ad in exchange
for your subscription. Others don't require a subscription in
order to have your ad seen. There are various coops out there to
suit your advertising needs.
Ad Coops have gotten a bit of flack lately. After a new service
has been around for a while, sometimes certain aspects get
neglected and therefore you think that it will eventually be
abused.
I'll let you know how to get the most out of your advertising
experience with coops and I'll also show the publishers who
participate in these coops how they can come out on top as well.
Tips For The Advertiser
If you do not want any ezines to come to your main email address
then I suggest you use a separate address so it doesn't interfere
with your business mail.
I do not suggest you use any type of free or throw away address
because if it bounces, you can be removed from the participating
ezines and therefore your ad will not be seen.
Check to make sure if your ISP uses any type of spam filter. This
may prevent any ezines from reaching you and therefore your ad
may not run. Nothing drives an opt in publisher more crazy than
spam filters. Check first. If it has one then I suggest you use
another email address to be on the safe side.
Please have your ad already formatted according to the guidelines
that the ad coop owner has specified. We are publishers, and time
is very limited if we have to spend the time editing ads all day.
Publishers are grateful for your subscription and will in turn
give you a quality ezine. You do not have to remove yourself as
soon as your ad is run. They actually do have something
worthwhile to read.
Don't be alarmed at how many welcome messages you may receive.
Before you place your order look over the ezines that you will be
subscribed to so there are no surprises. No need for any spam
complaints here.
Tips For The Publisher
Don't treat this as a free ad. They have paid to place an ad in
your ezine. I understand that you are not the coop owner
therefore the profits may not have gone your way. But you fail to
realize how much of a benefit this service is to you.
Reciprocal Links from the ad coop to your site
Good Search Engine Rankings
Free, I said Free Promotion
Learning valuable tips from other publishers.
A good network of publishers who find out about helpful products
and services first.
Valuable Subscribers who want to advertise.
Treat them right and you will have a lasting relationship with
that advertiser.
Besides you never know who that advertiser is. Just because they
use their ISP address doesn't mean it isn't a guru in disguise.
So you didn't think that you could get all these benefits from
one service huh..
Ad coops are not as bad as you think and they really have good
deals to help you save money on your advertising needs. Plus you
will also get yourself in touch with some valuable ezines to help
you become a better Netpreneur..
Here are some sites that can help you with your ezine
advertising. I know these ad coop owners and I can guarantee that
we will treat your ad with the respect that it deserves.
If you are a publisher looking for quality subscribers, then here
is the list for you. Professional service, Professional Support.
Enjoy!

??How Has Working On The Internet Affected Your Family Life Or
Outside Employment??
Since I work at home solely, a lot of organization between your
children, spouse, and especially yourself. Make a schedule and
stick to it. Now of course things can't go perfect all the time,
but I try my best. Sometimes there are a lot of factors that can
make or break working at home. It can depend on the size of your
home or apartment (space wise) The age of your children, the type
of job and/or the hours that your spouse works, plus any other
typical obligations. It takes time honestly but set schedules and
stick with it as much as possible.
It's rough at first getting your children or spouse to understand
what you're doing and why you are doing it. It does take a lot of
your time and if you are not ready to invest that time then you
are in for a rude awakening.
??Are You Happy With The Work That You Have Done So Far??
I tend to be a perfectionist so I am happy to an extent. There
are so many things that I have yet to learn and it can make you
very impatient to get to that "Guru" status but I know that time
is one of the best experience makers. I learn something new
everyday and I know in time things will look more clear and the
days of "Oh please can I have a sale" will be in the past.
Honestly, How Long Did It Take For You To See A Profit?
A week after I announced that I was selling paid advertisements
in my ezine, I got my first ad. Talk about happy. Just to see
that little subject heading "Notification of Payment Received"
brought a smile on my face. After that I had a very slow time
trying to sell ebooks and other affiliate programs, but I also
realized that I didn't know all the ways to promote myself and my
website. I finally realized that I needed my own product but I
can still be successful with affiliate programs but it is all
about how YOU promote it.
Now it does take a while before you start to see steady profits
such as when you have outside employment. It will take a while
before you know you will definitely make a certain amount each
week or each month. Not as easy as a regular job but then that is
because that job is already established. You are just starting.
What Advice Can You Give To The Newbies Out There To Help
Them Succeed?
Don't give up. So what if you don't have a large ezine list, so
what if you're email isn't going crazy with sales. It's okay. We
all have to start out small. As you go along you will find your
niche and you will really start to get your focus. Don't lose
your focus. Don't be discouraged by scams you may fall for, just
keep pushing and you will succeed.
There are some days when I just want to hang it all up but I
don't because this is what I have wanted to do for a long time
and it's going to take a lot to bring me down. So try to maintain
a positive attitude whenever you feel down and things will look
better.
With The Knowledge That You Have Now What Would You Do
Differently?
I wouldn't think that you can start a business and make enough to
replace your job in the course of a few months. I didn't realize
that yes money does make it easier to get started. Lack of money
does slow things down but it doesn't stop the show. Everything
you make those first few months goes right back into my business.
You can't just say "Oh I made $50 I'm going to the movies" No
then you remember all the monthly costs you have and the
advertising that you have yet to do, and then there is this ebook
you've been waiting to buy, and so on and so on .....
I tried to pace myself with what I had to learn but it wasn't
until later on that I had a lot of help from people that I met
online. You can learn so much just from asking. I have met some
people online that I like better than the people I know face to
face. Getting myself involved in message boards really opened up
a world of knowledge for me.
I also realized that you can't start a site, start an ezine,
promote a product once and expect to see any profits. You have to
keep at it.
I also wish I knew about half of the websites that I know now.
All I knew were the sites that advertise on television which is
fine but there are millions of sites out there with a lot of
information to help you. You just have to make the time to learn
it all.

The Paid Advertiser, I Can Make You Or Break You
By Donesia Muhammad Copyright (c) 2002 KDM Publishing
_________________________________________________________________
I am not your FREEloader subscriber. I am not your Gimme Gimme
Visitor.
I understand the value of advertising.
I want to promote my product or service.
I know it takes money to make money.
So why are you treating me like yesterday's garbage.
When I first visited your site, why did it take forever to find
out how to reach you. Why did it take so long to find your links
to pay you?
Let me repeat myself.
Why did it take so long and why did you make it so complicated to
PAY you? To help your business profit?
Once I finally found your links, did you treat me well?
After all I could've put my credit card back in my wallet and
kept surfing to the other hundreds of sites that offer the same
as you but I wanted to advertise with you..
I Paid For Your Ebook
But the link didn't work. Did you help me to solve the problem
quickly and efficiently? Were you sincere in helping me?
Did you follow up to make sure that everything is working okay?
Did you care enough to do that? Did you even say Thank you for
your payment?
Was it even worth it or did you only care about the resell
rights?
I Paid For Ad Space In Your Ezine
Did you let me know when my ad would run?
Did you send me a receipt or something that I can show to my
accountant. I am a business owner just like you.
Did you make sure that you didn't over book your ad space and
that people will actually see my ad. I did pay for this you know.
I should not be treated the same someone who sent you a free ad.
If that was the case, then why bother taking the money if you
can't deliver the goods?
Were you honest with me when you told me how many subscribers you
have, how often you publish?
I sent you a solo ad. Did you let me know if you were going to
send out any other solo ads that same day therefore limiting the
power of my solo ad...
I Paid For An Ad Through An Ad Coop
Did the publishers reply to me when my ad was going to run
Did these publishers treat me as a freebie and only cared about
having me as a subscriber instead of as an advertiser?
When you sent me a confirmation letter did you let me know of any
deals you have as an ezine publisher?
Did you give me the quality type of ezine that makes me want to
stay subscribed with you even after my ad has run??
As The Owner Of The Ad Coop
I expect you to have quality ezines associated with your
business. One bad apple can spoil the bunch.
Did you explain to me what to expect once you send my ads out? Do
I even know that I will be subscribed to dozens of ezines?
If I have a problem can I contact you or did you just care about
my money and nothing else?
Everything you do is what determines me to become what everyone
wants..
A Repeat Customer Who Believes In You And Your Product
Or Someone Who Has Just Learned A Lesson And Will Know What To
Expect With The Next Webmaster/Publisher.
The treatment I receive from you is what helps to build a lasting
advertising relationship that will profit all of us in the
future.
If I paid once, I will pay again, depending on how you plan to
treat me.
When I first sent an email asking about your ad rates or just had
a question in general about your site, I no longer was just an
email address in your list or just someone surfing. I became..
The Pre-Qualified Sale
I already showed an interest in your product.
Now it's up to you to reel me in.
