with the outside world, their spouses and children and can really
grow the way they want to. This series is geared mostly towards
women since it is a women writing the series but this also applies
to both genders. You'll see...
Part One we discussed how to mentally get yourself and your
family ready for a home based
business and also the real reason why women want to start their
own business.
Part Two of this series is designed to get the lazy and
procrastinating people up and running
successful once and for all.
In part Three, I wanted to briefly talk about how boring it
can be sometimes at home with
your business.
Yes I said it. Boring.
When you realize that your day to day routine is the same, it may
start to drive you crazy.
Remember when you would see all the other working adults leave
their houses in the
morning with their suits on jumping into the car. They talked to
real people at lunch, they
actually worried what the weather was for that day so they knew
how to dress.
But since you stay at home, the only weather you worry about is
any thunderstorms that
may knock out your internet connection.
You may leave the house to pick up your children from school, and
to do any shopping but basically it can get pretty boring
sometimes looking at those four walls.
You see, working at home is great but it has its drawbacks. Again,
you have to learn to
balance yourself for better success.
MISERY LOVES COMPANY
When working at home gets to be a but tedious for you and you
wonder if you will ever talk
to a real live person again, the worse thing you can do is
complain about it to the negative
people you know.
You know the ones who thought you were crazy in the first place to
have a business. The
ones who can't wait for you to fail.
Don't tell them you are bored.
"Everything is fine, just dandy"
There are always people just waiting for you to fail. They can't
wait to hear even the
slightest bit of bad news and they will pounce on it.
Truthfully sometimes I have to get away from the computer
sometimes. It can become a
small obsession with checking emails, joining the latest ventures,
buying everything in site.
Downloading anything that has the word free in it.
Its easy as ever to find something to do online. Everything but
doing actual work that is.
SELF MOTIVATION
Remember when you would get bored at work, there was always a
supervisor or some form of upper management to motivate you.
But at home, you have to be your own team player. You have to give
yourself your own pep talk.
You can't make the computer your entire life. I once did and paid
the price for it.
Don't let it happen to you.
Get up every half an hour to take a breather. Walk around the
house, listen to some music. Don't get caught up in television. I
normally watch television when I take a lunch break.
If you go the route of not eating while doing your work, you will
suffer in the evening. Your
entire digestive system will be off track, and trust me you will
wish that you took the time to eat a light meal.
Keep a copy of your goals right by you so you can always refer to
it. Here is my Motivational Pep talk that I always give myself
when things look bad.
DONESIA'S WORK AT HOME PEP TALK
( say this to yourself every day and things will get brighter)
No matter what happens, I am proud of what I have accomplished so
far.
I will not let anyone discourage me or prevent me from my dreams.
I will use common sense when starting my business.
I will not believe the first fool who expects me to spend all my
money in their ventures.
I will not take out my frustrations out on my family when things
are rough online.
I will not try to keep up with the Internet Joneses' and spend
what I don't have just to say
Yes, I have that ebook. Yes I have that expensive software.
Yes, I am a member of that private membership site.
Yes, I have the 900ghz computer :)
I will take the time to realize my family comes first. I will not
let my family break down
because I have to listen to that teleconference instead of cooking
dinner.
I will understand that there is life outside of the computer. I
can function in the real world.
I will use the skills that I have learned to further myself in the
outside world.
I will not let one bad experience with an Internet Marketer ruin
me. Life will go on.
I will not worry about what someone says vicious things about me
online. They are not even
worth replying to.
I will try to learn from every experience that I go through. I
can't build, if I don't learn.
I will not assume that I have tried every method to make an honest
profit online. I realize
that in time, things will get better.
I will also not blame everything on the economy, the time of the
year, your lack of money.
But you can blame it on your lack of motivation.
And most important, when I get frustrated I will not take it out
on the wall next to the
computer by banging my head into it. Well, at least not more than
once a day :)

Do You Treat the Dishes Better Than Your
Cash Flow?

Cash is the lifeblood of every business. Cash is what keeps
your business alive. It is a very precious asset that must
be treated with the care and attention it deserves.
Always remember, Cash Is King, because No Cash = No Business.
One of the cold, hard realities of business is that if you
ever run out of cash, your business goes down the toilet.
All your hard work goes right down the drain. Your dreams
and desires for creating an exciting and profitable business
come crashing down.
Stop and ask yourself this question - What is my cash
balance right now?
If your answer is "I don't know", then you don't have your
cash flow under control. It means you are not "doing
today's work today". You are not "doing the dishes" each
day.
AN ACCURATE CASH BALANCE IS CRITICAL
In business, you have to have good numbers. And the most
important number of all is your cash balance.
Even the most intelligent and experienced person will fail
if they are making business decisions using an inaccurate or
incomplete cash balance.
Decisions that might otherwise be brilliant become deadly
when they are made based on inaccurate data. If you go to
the doctor and he makes an inaccurate diagnosis, the
treatment he prescribes for you could be harmful - even
fatal.
DOING THE DISHES EVERY DAY
The key to keeping an accurate cash balance in your
accounting system is to do today's work today. It's "doing
the dishes" every day.
The problems start when you, or the person you have in
charge of your books, violate this rule. When entering cash
receipts is put off and entering invoices is delayed.
THE "DISHES" TEST
If you've gotten in the habit of putting off the "non
essential" accounting and "data entry" work, I'd like to
suggest a little test.
STOP Doing the dishes.
Allow the dishes to stack up for a full week.
Save yourself the time and trouble of cleaning up after
meals. After you enjoy a good meal, put the dishes in the
sink or on the counter and get on to the other things you
have to do. Move on to the other important things around
the house.
Just think how much free time you will create for yourself.
Life is good, right?
Well, maybe not. After the first day or so, a couple
thoughts start to run through your head. "I'm still going
to have to do the dishes. When I do, there is going to be a
huge stack and it's going to take a long time. After a
week, they are also going to be smelly and have old and
hardened food all over them."
You would be embarrassed when friends come over and see
a dirty pile of dishes stacked up in your kitchen. Then
after a week, isn't it a much, much harder chore?
Stop and ask yourself this question - do most people do the
dishes every day because they just love doing the dishes?
Of course not. They do them each day because it's one of
those chores that is best done in bite-sized chunks.
TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CASH FLOW
Doing the dishes every day is the practice of doing today's
work today. You do it because the alternative approach is a
really bad idea.
You need to put this same approach to work in your business.
Specifically, make sure your financial records are kept
current each day. This will ensure you have an accurate
cash balance.
Make the commitment NOW to take control of your cash
balance. You owe it to yourself and to your business.
Remember, Cash Is King, because No Cash = No Business.
