Hi antonette and welcome to another edition of MIBW. Next week
is the 2 Year Anniversary issue of MIBW. That will be a great
issue and jam packed so please look out for that one next
Tuesday.
I also invite any testimonials or general feedback about MIBW. I
would love to put it in the anniversary issue.
I have received such great feedback ever since I started MIBW and
I thank everyone for it. I don't know what 2004 will bring for
MIBW. Sometimes I feel like making it completely web based, and
not deal with these new laws. That is the real kicker. How will
the laws affect us in 2004?? We got through the Habeas problem
earlier in the year. Well, it's not really solved but we do have
a better view of getting past the email filters.
But that isn't enough now. It is getting so that we need a life
history on someone just to sign them up to our newsletter and
pray they remember who we are if we don't send them an email
every other day.
Then of course there is always the choice to become a paid ezine,
but at what price? How much would you charge for your ezine?? So
many people have tried and failed at a paid newsletter but still
a lot seem to have made a success of it.
Membership sites and paid ezines are going to increase next year
whether we like it or not. It is not only becoming an economical
way but at least a way to say that we are still in control of our
ezines instead of some stuffed shirt who has no idea how much we
rely on our income from newsletters to survive.
Okay I am starting to get on the internet soapbox so I will
kindly step off for now and let you enjoy the rest of the issue.

I have a couple of things I need to vent on.....
First off, I keep getting the same response to every mailing I
send out to the readers of The Left Handed Times. "Please click
the below link and I'll never ask you to do it again." The link
is for SpamArrest. Now, I've never, ever spammed anyone, nor do
I intend to. (Bad business, ya know.)
This person ASKED to read TLHT, but yet, they feel they I have to
click on their link to be put on their "list". Now, I realize
that people are taking great strides against the spam war, I get
that. But, I consider myself a responsible, intelligent adult,
who subscribes to many ezines myself, AND if I don't want to
receive an ezine, guess what?? I unsubscribe. Once I figure out
how to cross reference this persons regular email addy, they will
be unsubscribed. Oh for the record, they can BITE ME!
Secondly, the new international laws (and USA states) on
subscription verifications is the pits. AND I live in the state
of Kansas, who we all know, have passed very stringent laws.
Man-o-man, just when ya think you're doing everything right,
following all the "rules" and BAM....you're not. I'm beginning
to think I need a degree to keep up with all of the changes.
Calgon, take me away!!

Make Your Complaint Heard And Get Results !

At some point in time you will be faced with the need to
register a complaint because of a poor product or poor
service, or maybe even both !
Here are some tips to make sure that your complaint is
NOT ignored.
Keep Your Cool
It's difficult to do this when you are "mad as all get out"
but it's a key step to making sure you're complaint gets
heard. Act reasonably and politely.
Make the person on the other end of your complaint
WANT to help you. Losing your temper can cause the
other person to become "defensive" instead of cooperative and
helpful.
Identify Yourself
Don't start out with "what" you are - "I'm a lawyer", "I'm a
doctor", "I'm a trash collector". Start out with "who" you are -
"My name is Jim". You want them to see you as a person, not just
another problem.
Give them your name and telephone number. This allows the other
person to respond more effectively and follow-up with results.
Remaining anonymous doesn't establish the one-on-one relationship
you need in order to have your problem resolved.
Be Precise
Have receipts and other records available to assist you
in giving an accurate account of your complaint. Give
them as many details as you can - the date you made
the purchase, the store where you made the purchase or
encountered the problem, the name of the salesperson you were
working with, etc.
Keep a record of the date, time and name of any person you speak
with about your complaint. If they are unable to resolve your
complaint immediately, ask when you can reasonably expect a
follow-up phone call.
Thank You
End your conversation by thanking them for their help. If you
have the person's name you are speaking with, address them by
name, "thank you Angela".
When the problem is resolved to your satisfaction, you may even
want to write a simple thank you note. People who work in
customer service appreciate this more than you may realize.
If you don't have the time or patience to write a letter, here's
a great resource I found online: www.planetfeedback.com. You
simply fill out a form on their site and they will compose a
well-written letter you can then send to the company. Better
yet, they'll even tell you the best person to send it to. And
it's free.
Use these steps "to your credit" the next time you have a
complaint, and you'll have greater success and results.
