Note: This tutorial is not meant to replace any legal advice regarding business start ups, accounting, taxes, or any zoning laws in your state. Please refer to those guidelines as well when setting up your business. This tutorial is meant to give you an idea of what you are facing when starting your business.
Always discuss this with a tax professional and/or a lawyer first before taking anyone's advice.
One of the most common questions my readers ask me is
"How did you start your business?"
"What steps did you have to take, how much money did you need to star?"
Now of course a lot of people ask this and once they find out all the real work involved, they may quit but this is for the serious person who wants to learn the ropes.
In this series, you will learn:
How to set up your business online, from start to finish
The different types of businesses you can have and which is right for you
How to get started with your website ( web design, web hosting, sales copy, etc.)
How to get started with ecommerce online
Getting started with your newsletter
Promotion, Marketing and why they are two separate subjects
What ebooks, websites, and ezines really are there to help you out..
How to motivate yourself and stay motivated in the long run for success.
You won't be a millionaire when I'm done, but you will be in the right path to achieve what YOU want to do, not what it looks like everyone else is doing..
I just figure its time that when someone wants to get started they don't have to take months to find out all the information like I had to.
Just to let you know this is all my research. I didn't go to school for web design or anything like that. In fact when I first started 2 years ago, I didn't even know how to get online. I remember I had a problem trying to figure out how to download products. Now I am learning php and mysql databases.
If I see any accompanying articles that are relevant to the subject, I will reprint it for you. I am just so tired of seeing the same hype online instead of just some honest answers and real help. Don't throw me an affiliate link, just help me for crying out loud!!
Is that how you feel sometimes, I know I did and still do. I appreciate someone who takes the time to answer my question instead of "selling me" their thoughts. I don't care if it takes a few days to answer, as long as its sincere, then I am happy.
So that is the basis of Part One, Hustling your Business Down the Drain...
Remember when you wanted to have a nice simple business online. Nothing fancy, just enough to pay some bills now and then or the extra money was nice enough to buy extra things that you couldn't do before. Let's use this for an example
Donesia has a knack for sewing sweaters, and she always wanted to sell them online, so she started researching to find out how. By the time you key in phrases in the major search engines, you are so overwhelmed, you don't know where to begin.
But of course, what will always catch a newbies eye. Those so called money making opportunities. Then you get sidetracked. You get caught up in the game and then before you know it:
You start to listen to the seminars, start reading the reports, downloading the ebooks, doing everything that tells you how to profit from "their" business instead of how to maintain your own.
The problem with everyone now, is they are frustrated that what they thought was going to work isn't and they don't know how to go about it.
These "gurus" tell you to develop your own product but somewhere down the line, after you have read that long report ( which is resellable), and read that ebook, which is also resellable, it all boils down to what you suspected before..
It's all one big sales letter to buy their product.
Now of course I am not saying that to maintain and grow your business you shouldn't write reports or ebooks, but do you ever read some of them and end up even more confused than when you started.
Donesia has now forgotten here original goal of selling sweaters.
She is now ready to:

A month later, Donesia is broke. Plain and simple
She is tired of waiting for riches that are not going to happen. She tried the methods, listened to the gurus, and now oh wow, she made 20 dollars.
To bad she spent $200 to get $20.
Donesia got so caught up in reselling everyone's else's ideas, plans, and downlines, that she thought that this was the only way to have a business online.
She forgot that all she wanted to do was sell sweaters. Remember..
When did Donesia get caught up in this rat race?? If she wanted the rat race again, then she would go back to her 9 to 5 job that gave her daily headaches..
Why am I going through this? I don't want to be a millionaire, I just want to be able to work at home and enjoy it. To have my own business. Pay taxes to Uncle Sam like every other business owner, and then hopefully make a profit and get my product out there.
I tell this to everyone who stays at home. If you have a computer. Make it work for you.
Don't spend all day long wasting time. Learn something. Or teach your children how to use the computer to their best advantage.
Stop wasting your time hustling with one so called money maker until the next one comes along. That's all you're doing..
If you are going from one opportunity to the next, then you are just looking for the easy way out instead of achieving any long term goals then you are basically..
Hustling your business right down the drain
In Part Two, we will learn:
The different types of business structures and how they will help you
Getting a business license and learning about zoning laws for home businesses
How your offline skills can help you online
Getting together your first site, and why Free is Good.. for the first couple of weeks ..
